Activity in the UK construction industry fell to its weakest level in more than a decade
“Purchasing activity and new orders dropped like a stone in June as the UK construction sector experienced its worst month for a decade,” said Duncan Brock, group director at the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply. The reported fall in house-building was the largest in three years, while commercial work fell for the sixth consecutive month and remained the worst performing area of the construction sector. Survey respondents “often cited Brexit uncertainty and subsequent delays to project starts” among the reasons for falling activity, IHS Markit noted.
